The third beta release fixes the problems reported by the first beta testers, most of them concerning photos that keep their metadata in XMP sidecar files:

  • XMP sidecars are now written as companions of their photo. Every change to a photo is also written to the sidecar next to it, whether or not the sidecar is in the file list, and sidecars are no longer written on their own.
  • Sidecars that store the GPS hemisphere in separate latitude and longitude reference fields are now read correctly instead of being placed east or north of their true location.
  • The map shows one marker per photo. A sidecar next to its photo no longer produces a second marker at the same spot, so pairs no longer appear as permanent two-file clusters.
  • Marker and cluster colours now follow the selection when it is changed from the file table, the keyboard or the previous and next buttons, not only when a marker is clicked on the map.
  • Selecting a file in the Side-by-Side and Vertical views keeps the current map zoom instead of resetting it, so files you have just zoomed in to separate stay apart.
  • Arrow-key file selection keeps working after switching between the Items, Side-by-Side, Vertical and Map tabs.
  • Removing files or clearing the file list now also removes their markers from the map.
  • The "Drag Your Files and Folders Here" placeholder scales to fit the narrower table in the Side-by-Side view and the shorter one in the Vertical view.
