Version 12.36
7th October 2026
The new version:
- both regular expression actions now show a short message under the pattern field explaining why a pattern does not compile, such as an unmatched parenthesis or bracket, a trailing backslash or a quantifier with nothing to repeat
- regular expression patterns are compiled once per preview rather than once per file, which speeds up previews over thousands of files
Improvements & Bug Fixes
- fixes the Replace regular expression action treating backslash escapes as capture groups since version 12.34: a backslash once again escapes the following character, so a substitution such as $1\0\0$2 inserts two zeros rather than the whole match twice
- fixes tags in the tag library occasionally showing the wrong name after a second click on a selected row
- in-app news windows now appear at most once every 180 days and no longer open blank
Version 12.35
23rd September 2026
The new version:
- newly created Re-arrange using regular expression actions now use the modern regular expression engine by default; existing presets and droplets keep the engine they were saved with
- the modern re-arrange action now requires the pattern to match the entire file name and builds the new name from the substitution alone, exactly as the legacy engine and the help describe
- both modern regular expression actions accept \1 to \9 as aliases for $1 to $9
- the preview table shows one capture group column per group in the pattern, keeps those columns at equal widths, and restores the previous column layout when leaving regular expression mode
- adds support for the <CameraMake> and <CameraModel> tags for DJI videos (Osmo Action, Mavic and others), which store the camera model outside the standard metadata fields
Improvements & Bug Fixes
- the modern replace action now ignores zero-length matches, as the legacy action always did
- fixes the <CameraModel> tag coming up empty for video files
This is the first version to require macOS 15 Sequoia or later. Version 12.34 remains available for macOS 13 Ventura and macOS 14 Sonoma.
Version 12.34
10th September 2026
The new version:
- adds the <Dpi> image tag, giving the resolution of the image in dots per inch regardless of the unit the file stores it in
- adds the <RetinaScale> image tag, which yields @1x, @2x or @3x for images whose resolution is a whole multiple of 72 dpi
- image dimensions and resolution are now taken from the largest embedded image, so multi-page TIFFs and files with embedded thumbnails or previews no longer report the size of the wrong sub-image
Improvements & Bug Fixes
- fixes a typo in the trial limitation dialog
Version 12.33
26th August 2026
The new version:
- adds Broadcast Wave start timecode tokens in three filename-safe formats: <BWFTimecode> (HH-MM-SS-FF), <BWFTimecode_HH_MM_SS_FF> and <BWFTimecode_HHMMSSFF>, converting the bext TimeReference to SMPTE timecode with correct drop-frame handling for 29.97 and 59.94 fps
- adds the companion tokens <BWFTimecodeRate> (e.g. 23.976) and <BWFTimecodeFlag> (NDF/DF)
- adds <BWFOriginalFilenameNoExtension>, the as-recorded original filename without its extension
Improvements & Bug Fixes
- fixes a one-frame timecode error for frame rates stored as truncated decimal values
- the file info pane no longer lists legacy tag aliases
Version 12.32
12th August 2026
The new version:
- adds support for renaming Broadcast Wave (BWF) audio files using their embedded metadata, with new tokens: <BWFOriginator>, <BWFCircled>, <BWFOriginalFilename> and <BWFTrackNames> (track & microphone names from iXML)
- adds general audio metadata tokens <AudioFormat>, <AudioChannels> and <AudioBitDepth>, which also work for AIFF and QuickTime/MP4 files
- renames the existing broadcast wave tokens to consistent <BWF…> names (<BWFScene>, <BWFTake>, <BWFTape>, <BWFNote>, <BWFProject>); existing presets using the old names continue to work
- the Broadcast Wave origination date is now available for date-based renaming of WAV files

- fixes reading of the originator field from Broadcast Wave files
- adds German and French descriptions for the new audio tokens
- preparations for compatibility with future macOS releases
